The author's project "Photography Gives Light" appeared thanks to the famous Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Chekmenov. On April 19, 2022, he made a portrait of President Volodymyr Zelensky for the cover of TIME magazine. "I saw some light in him and felt that he was capable of more," Oleksandr admits. And, by coincidence, today this very photo literally gives light to hundreds and thousands of people.
At the Forbes Ukraine charity auction, this photo portrait was sold for 6,000,000 hryvnias ($150,000), and the photographer decided to donate all these funds to the purchase of generators for educational institutions in Kyiv and other regions, especially affected by the russcist invasion. So far, Oleksandr Chekmenyov, together with the Initiative E+ team, has personally delivered more than 40 generators to schools in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. To be continued!
